We also have been involved in these transactions in a variety of industries including oil and gas exploration and production companies, many aspects of the oil and gas services sector, health care, entertainment, and high tech.

We have represented venture capital groups and private equity funds making investments in the oil and gas service, health care and insurance fields, as well as numerous start-up or growing companies who have benefited from venture capital or other forms of outside investment, including angel investors, technology transfers and technology development joint ventures, and secured and unsecured financing arrangement.

Government

Public Finance
Baker Williams Matthiesen serves as bond counsel, underwriters’ counsel or disclosure counsel on governmental financings throughout Texas, including on a variety of city, special district and state agency issuances. Additionally, we serve as underwriters’ and purchasers’ counsel in many public finance transactions.

Local Government Representation
We also serve as outside counsel to numerous utility districts, authorities and special districts in a variety of matters including elections, open meetings, open records, annexation, public bidding, and civil rights issues.

Disclosure Counsel
Our attorneys provide advice to governmental issuers on issuer disclosure obligations and assist in preparation of the official statement and continuing disclosure agreement.

Stimulus Package Financings
Baker Williams Matthiesen serves as disclosure counsel and bond counsel to governmental entities issuing taxable ”Build America Bonds” issued pursuant to the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Baker Williams Matthiesen attorneys have litigated intellectual property disputes in courtrooms across the country, including in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Ohio, Oregon, New York, Texas, Utah, Washington and Washington, D.C.; disputed matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office; and domain name arbitrations brought under the UDRP. In addition to handling multiple preliminary injunction motions, our trademark litigators have tried five trademark cases to judgment. Our IP cases have included disputes relating to trademark and trade dress infringement, dilution, validity and priority of trademark rights, false advertising, unfair competition, trade libel, copyright infringement and misappropriation of name and likeness.
