David Kim has lived in Houston since he was four years old. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1998. In 1999, he graduated from the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs, a national leadership training program. After Coro, he earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Duke University in 2002, where he was the Executive Editor and Articles Editor of the Alaska Law Review and received the Public Service Award from the law school with another classmate at graduation.

David’s practice focuses on business and real estate transactions. Prior to joining Cochran & Baker, he was Project Manager at Covenant Neighborhoods, a non-profit real estate developer, and supervised the development of the organization’s single-family communities and individual homes for sale to working-class families. Prior to joining Covenant, he practiced corporate and securities law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Houston.

David serves as Treasurer and Chairperson of the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of Houston Habitat for Humanity and sits on the Board of Directors of the Yale Club of Houston. He also serves on the Advocacy Committee of the Children’s Assessment Center and is the Membership Chairperson for Young Professionals for Children, a young professionals group affiliated with Child Advocates.
